In the late 1990s, the Internet was not a fun place for the masses. It was difficult to get around, set up an email address, or share files. America Online had just begun carpet bombing the US with millions of free AOL CDROM disks delivered through the US Postal Service in an attempt to snag as many subscriptions as possible.

Recently a lot of websites and blogs have made the transition from Google’s Blogger service to an independently-hosted WordPress installation. It can be a tricky process, because transferring isn’t easy when you have hundreds of posts published already. So, what’s so great about WordPress? Why bother with the work just to make what may seem like a trivial switch? While your visitors may not notice any changes, the differences on the back-end are night and day.
