According to many pundits in the social arena, 2010 was the year of Location-Based Services (LBS). Companies like Foursquare, GoWalla, Whrrl, SCVNGR, Yelp, Loopt, Stickybits, Mytown and many more startups took over the space. And of course, Facebook launched their Places and Deals platforms.

Over the years, I’ve written extensively about the need to extend opportunities abound in social media beyond marketing and customer service to set the stage for the social business. I believe that the impact lies beyond the socialization of business, it introduces us to a genre of an adaptive business, an entity that can earn relevance now and over time by listening, engaging, and learning.

That Breaking News need not be a Scoop Race but is best handled as a emergent story. Andy carried a tweet from NPR that said that Giffords was dead at 15.12. A new one from NPR at 15.36 that there was now doubt and one from AP that she was alive at 15.34 – In other words Andy offered us the reality of the real mess that always attends such an event.

As I progress in the discovering of social platforms, I meet a whole group of evidences and assumptions, drawing a kind of “best practices” or “most encountered”. And it shapes as the long way of spending time to build something strong and sustainable. I tried to underline the long tail to truth and trust, that magnify the social network pleasure. and compared players as “assets”, who valued, time, participation and relevance to build global community value.
